The new arrangement is helping me to work more efficiently in the studio. I can get to what I need quicker instead of hunting for it. All the hunting was taking up valuable time. I flatted a newspaper clipping that is about 50 yrs old. I started on a small frame - cleaned and it needs sanding before it gets repainted. BUT TODAY, I started on the big horn sheep skull I have had about 20 yrs.
After reading up on the best way to conserve it and then much thought about what I will do with it once it is conserve; I have finally started.
It is from the dessert of Northern Nevada and very dirty! The upper nose is missing and the sinus passageway can be seen. STEP ONE is to clean all the grim from the surface. I'm starting with distilled water, cotton balls and a soft tooth brush.
This is going to take a very LOOONG time. The horns are the least fragile the sinus is the most fragile.
